Blog Swap with Naptime Crafters!

Happy Thursday everyone! I am so incredibly excited to introduce you to Amy of Naptime Crafters! She's got an amazing blog chock full of creative ideas (seriously, go check out her dollar store blanket turned into a fleece jacket, it's one of the coolest warmest upcyles ever!) Ok, I'm talking too much now. I'll let Amy take it away!

I'm so excited to meet all of you! Isn't it fun meeting new friends you have so much in common with? We even have the same name:) Different spelling, but still...

I have to admit I am still in awe over those paint chip pumpkins from awhile back- pure genius!!

Now a bit about me- since I guess that's what this blog swapping business is all about:)

I'm a SAHM to my 9-month old little miss who I love to pieces. She is seriously the sweetest thing ever and is even willing to help me out with my projects:

and wear the outfits I make without mentioning their little imperfections

Head over to naptime crafters to find lots of fun tutorials for baby, your home, and the holidays!

Are you ready for a tutorial? So... I had this really fun project with leaves planned and then it didn't quite pan out, but I have something even better to share! Warning- if you make this you may become completely addicted and carry it around like a baby. My mom wants to get a baby sling for hers:) Seriously all jokes aside- let me introduce you to:

    the Bed Buddy

This super warm bag of corn (yup doesn't sound eloquent, but that's what it is) will pre-heat your bed, soothe sore muscles, and even let you stick your ice cold feed on it in the middle of the night!

Ready to get started? Here's what you'll need:
  • 4 cups Feed corn (NOT pop corn. You can find it at farm type stores)
  • 1/3 yard fabric or 2 washcloths
  • Sewing Machine
1. Measure out your corn and put it in something with an easy pour spout. Cut your fabric into a nice long rectangle- mine measured 10x24", but you can play around with the size (If you're using washcloths skip ahead)

2. If you want to add a little extra something to your bed buddy applique on an initial or something fun

3. With your fabric right sides together sew around the edges leaving a 3"ish gap, so you can pour the corn in. I went around once with a straight stitch and then around again in zig-zag to reinforce it.

4. Flip right side out, fill with corn and then topstitch the opening shut. Enjoy!

*Heating Instructions: In my tiny old microwave it takes about 3 minutes, but in a nice microwave only about a minute, so start low and work your way up. It will burn if you're not careful!!

*Breaking it in: the first few times you use it, it will smell and sweat. Ewww, but I promise after a couple times it will be broken in and ready to go. I've had the same one for over 10 years and it still works great! If you're giving it as a gift you should probably break it in first:)

Thanks Amie- it was fun swapping with you!

With cooler weather coming up I cannot wait to make several one of these! Don't forget to check out Naptime Crafters to see what I've posted on her blog!

Blog Swap with Mine for the Making!

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I'm thrilled to introduce you to Kara! She is behind one of my favorite craft blogs, Mine for the Making! She's got an amazing Halloween craft to share with you today, so I'll let her take over!

Hey there Kitty Cats & Airplanes readers!!

I'm Kara over at Mine for the Making and I am so excited Amie invited me over today!!
Isn't Amie awesome!? I just love her dinner napkin apron tutorial and her funfetti cookie recipe! She's got some great ideas up her crafty little sleeves!

A little about me?
I am a mommy and a wife.

I am a teacher and LOVE my job.

Other things I love besides my family and my job are crafting, decorating, finding a good bargain, cooking and baking, reading, blogging, pink, Starbucks, learning to sew, and all things DIY. Here are a few of my favorite projects...

I have lots of fun tutorials over on my blog and I am going to share an easy, Halloweeny one with you today! Let's get started, shall we?

Witch's Broom

You will need:
-A broom of some kind
-Ribbon, buttons, rhinestones, and other embellishments
-Black spray paint
-Hot glue & gun

I purchased my broom from Good Will for $0.50 and used spray paint, ribbon, buttons, and rhinestones that I already had in my craft stash.

First, I spray painted the broom with 2-3 coats of black.

Then I started adding ribbon to embellish. I secured the ribbon with hot glue.

Then I added a few buttons and rhinestones for a little "bling."

Here is the finished Witch's Broom with my Halloween decor.

Thank you so much for having me over today, Amie! I had a ton of fun with Kitty Cats & Airplanes readers! I hope you all stop by Mine for the Making to check out crafty tutorials and delicious recipes! I have a giveaway going on and I would love for you all to enter!

Have a Spooktacular Halloween!

Isn't she so talented? What an amazing upcycle! Be sure to check out her blog because I'm sharing another Halloween craft over there!

Blog Swap with Crystal's Craft Spot!

I am so excited to have Crystal here today for Kitty Cats and Airplanes' very first blog swap! Be sure to head over to her blog to see what I've created over there! :) Take it away Crystal!

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to blog swap with Amie today. I just love her cute blog and great craft ideas.
She is just so talented.
I am Crystal from Crystal's Craft Spot. Its my little spot to share my current craft projects, tutorials, recipes, and ideas I want to use in the future. I have have a craft challenge every Wednesday and Feature yourself Friday that I would love for you to join. I try to post something new almost everyday and I enjoy a variety of crafts. It is my way to relax and take a break from a busy day. If you have little ones you might also be interested in my preschool blog.  We post our fun activities and crafts over there.  Also I just opened up my own etsy shop yesterday called A.O.kay designs.  Its not very full but I'll be adding a lot of fun new things as I go so check back often.  .
Today I have a fun craft to share with you.  I'm going to show you how to made some spooky friends.  Well they don't look like much here but keep scrolling down to see how fun these little friends can be.
Find a big frame with glass.  Mine is 20x16
Paint your frame
While that's drying grab the cardboard from the back of the frame
cut your paper to fit the size of your board.  I did 2 pieces 12x7 to go across the bottom (this is where your characters will go) and and then used scraps to fit the remaining top 4 inches.
Glue into place.  I also sanded my paper a bit to give it a distressed look.
Cut out the basic shape of the face.  Do this for your Frankenstein, Witch, and ghost.
 Glue them onto your paper.
Cut out your title and glue it on
Add the glass and cardboard to your frame and your finished.
Well first you need to draw some cute faces and the best part is you can erase them and draw new ones over and over again.

Even your little ones can join in on the fun.

Make sure you use dry erase markers and it easily wipes off.  You can also draw on the glass of framed family pictures to make them a little spooky as well.  Or if you don't really want to bring out the markers you can finish the faces with paper before you frame it.  It would be really cute as well.

Come by Crystal's Craft Spot anytime for more crafts and tutorial. Thanks again for letting me stop by. Its been a lot of fun!

Does she have the best ideas?? Check out her blog for even more! Thanks for swapping with my Crystal!
