Remember that cute rosette headband the hubs made? (It was pretty good wasn't it? :) I decided to make a tutorial for it so you could make one too! Keep in mind that this is not my own original idea, I've seen tons of these on the internet, I haven't the slightest clue where they originated. This is just how I did it. Now, are you ready?
You will need:
- Lace trim (if you want to make one similar to the black headband, use long strips of an old t-shirt about an inch thick)
- Coordinating scraps of felt (enough to make a 2-inch diameter circle)
- Scissors
- Glue gun
- Pearl (or other embellishment)
- Headband, stretchy or plastic, doesn't matter (not pictured, sorry!)
(You might want to gather extra materials, these are so easy and so fast you'll definitely want to make more than one!)
Cut a 2-inch circle out of your felt. Doesn't have to be perfect, no one's grading it! Make sure that glue gun is on and put a little line of glue on the outer edge of the circle.
Take that lace and twist it around a few times so that it makes a loose rope. Not too tightly, we want people to admire the lace! Fold under the raw edge and stick it on the glue and press down gently (be careful of hot glue that might seep through the holes in the lace! We don't want any burns.)
Note: This step is the same if you are using strips of t-shirt. Just stretch it out, twist it, and glue it.
Keep adding glue, twisting, and pressing. When you reach where you've started, continue your gluing, twisting, and pressing underneath the first row.
Keep going around and around until you've reached the center! Snip off the excess trim, add a dot of glue to the center, fold under the raw edge and press down.
Add your pearl (or other embellishment) to the center of your rosette.
Put on the headband and arrange the rosette somewhere that looks good to you. Glue it on.
To secure your rosette a little better, cut a small strip of felt and glue it on the other side of the headband.
And show it off! (If you're taking pictures, make sure you have someone to help you take pretty pictures so you're not stuck doing it by yourself in awful lighting.)
Ahh, so pretty. :) It also looks great with more than one rosette on a stretchy headband too! Now what are you waiting for? Go out there and make one!
